Mates Focua C max has broken down.

It's a 1.6 tdci auto, basically when put in drive it makes a noise and only goes so far before it loses drive.

The car itself is a nice motor to have as a daily hack.
I've asked him if he would consider selling it to me, which he said he would consider.

Need to know what the damage would be worst case scenario and if this is a common fault with a common fix?

hay mate can you get me the full reg will check at work to see what gear box its got most common on these i come accross is the valve bored in the box which is not cheap at all dude. but we have had a few in recently with either broken wire in the loom on top of the box or water in the multy plugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had one of these where i used to work. Box was fucked and was mega ££ to sort out. Sure your supposed to change oil and filter on some of these auto boxes which is also mega money. As above the valve bodies go on these and again not cheap at all. Heard of people converting to manual as its the cheaper option!
