Default MK4 Bonus Blacktop

Managed to pick this up today for a decent price. It was fitted with a 2 litre silvertop on bike carbs and ford management, which the previous owner siezed. I have got a 2 litre blacktop with it, i just need to fit the blacktop and get it running. This is gonna run alongside my other mk4 escort project.

It's a really good 1300 bonus shell which will require 2 little bits of welding and back arches tidied.

Got a few jobs done to this lately engine mods are all done now, mount and idler pulley so just waiting on a break in the weather to get it fitted. Been buying a few bits for it as well got a s1 kit thats been cut to fit a mk4 and a 90 spec front bumper. Thinking of putting the lights back to standard as well
Engine ready for gearbox to be fitted.

Carbs all fitted ignore the filters as they're only on to stop shite getting in.

Noticed the engine mount is quite high up on the inner wing, is that what you have to do to fit a zetec?

Thats the standard mount mate. Engine is in just needs water pipes tidied up and some terrible wiring sorted out. Excuse the red manifold it was bought like that and i couldn't be arsed painting it.

If you're thinking about the early MK3 mount then thats a lot lower. On the MK4's they had the higher one as can be seen in the picture I believe.

Well i took the kit off this today getting ready for the series 1 kit to be fitted. I can safely say the back arches are fooked and will need replaced. Not to bad though but i'd rather do it all now then fit the kit. Been buying up some goodies for it as well, gonna be running megajolt and change the carbs for zx6r ones.

have you got much clearance between cambelt tensioner and the engine mounting ledge?

I've just bolted my black top in the bay, its quite close.

Oh the lovely rot i just viewed a 75k mile xr2 before i came offshore which in general was a very nice shell but had some scabby bits underneath! that coupled with the fact it had no history and the price tage of 2.5k made me walk away! I went through this hassle with my rs turbo pickup and it just put me right off lol. This is different and i wouldnt stick a cvh turbo in it! its gid to be different if you ever sell the car or wheels give me a shout buddy!

I ground a bit away mate to give me more clearance. Not to much though as you have the hole for the mount to think about.

I found it very easy mate. Change the rear mounting made a plate for it, cut a little out of the mounting point. I made a aux pulley set up for the water pump ground away the sump to let me run a s2 box.

Well car is now away for some arch surgery. Should get it back this week sometime. Been a few changes, fitted the zx6r carbs on a danst manifold and changed the esc for megajolt. The car runs a lot sweeter with this setup, but still needs mapped and setup properly. Found out the gearbox in it is f*cked as well so just picked up a s2 box with lsd so that will be fitted asap. Morettes have been reconditioned with 4 new lamps and some mods made for the indicators which didn't involve cutting holes in the bumper. I'll get pics up when i get car back.

Passengers arch is all welded ready for me to get it ready for paint. We decided to replace the inner arch as well and a section of the sill, Somebody done a dodgy repair at the back of the sill but looks 100% better now.

Not sure what they'd be like on a cvh, right manifold and jetted right i can't see why they wouldn't work.
