YOU WILL ONLY SEE SCREAMER PIPES ON CARS THAT HAVE AN EXTERNAL WASTE GATE & instead of plumbing the exhaust pipe back into the down pipe it exits straight to atmosphere which makes it bloody loud ,the external waste gate is used to regulate boost pressure the same as a wastegate actuator does on a conventional turbo do ,but the external one,s tend to be more accurate and used on big power engines .

there's nothing stopping the wastegate outlet pipe being silenced and therefore not 'screaming'

you dont need an external wastegate to have a screamer pipe, you can make them on rs turbo style exhaust housings where the wastegate penny is offset from the rear turbo wheel

Thats usually refered to as a "divorced port"
And penny flaps creep so usually let gasses past even when not on boost,

I love external wastegate sound, the sound is also reflected from the design,
The one on my old focus went straight to floor origionally but was echoing back extremely loud,
So i had a 30 degree angle attached to aim back slightly and then it sounded spot on,

Pics of mine origionally
Here you can see the wastegte with the take off

And here you can see the screamer pipe poking straight down

This is a couple of vids of mine,
1 at silverstone on a flyby,
2nd one is a bit of hooning on the roads
3rd is a brunters
