Default 2007 Focus ST Clutch Vibrating

Hey guys first post

Jim from Galway in ROI here, anyways my clutch pedal has started vibrating like mad on my Pre facelift ST and im pretty sure it's the flywheel.

Gearchange isn't the same and car feels pretty sluggish on power and gearchanges. I have read solid flywheels are an option but i have also heard that MK2 ST/RS don't have the damper springs as standard as this to protect the gearbox so im stumped.

Will be bringing it to my mechanic tomorrow for a look and was wondering how much roughly a replacement dual mass flywheel kit is and if it's ok to drive the car with the DMF on the way out.

Thanks, looking forward to my time here

Good luck with the fix, I've heard different stories regarding converting to a solid flywheel so it's all about what you want or probably more to the point what you can afford !

I would try to avoid driving it as if the flywheel starts breaking up bits can fall into and potentially ruin the starter motor !

How much power are you running and what is the mileage mate?

As above, flywheel sounds knackered and best off going for an RS clutch kit.

Sounds definitely like flywheel mate although I would've thought it would last a bit longer than that.

Know anywhere that does a good price on RS clutch kit ? Not many performance specialists in the ROI although i do have a local Indy who is great. Im loathe to get flywheel replaced and paying for all the labour involved w/o atleast getting an important mod out of the way

Pumabuild in Birmingham do the RS clutch kit for £750 fitted which is a good price. Dreamscience in Hull or Collins Performance in Cheshire are also worth a shout.

Well way im looking at is it, i was gonna get a dreamscience handset after christmas and clutch would probably start slipping afew months later. May aswell get this out of the way now when im paying the labour to get it fitted.

Financially i will probably have to still use car for a week and a half or so until i get the money together to get it bought and fitted and that would be my main concern. Thanks alot for thinking of me though

Safest way to go is to RS kit. I went Dreamscience and mine started slipping after that so opted for the RS clutch kit.

Do you know if their clutch+flywheel kit comes with all the ancillary parts like the RS slave cylinder

No worries mate. I got mine through these http://www.part-box.co.uk/ genuine ford parts and very helpful. Blokes called Paul Dolan. He will sort you out.

I then had them fitted at a local garage who have me my old clutch kit back as it was in good nick.

Never heard much about flywheel probs on st's just clutch slip due to maps or higher mileage.

I'd get one in ready if there is a slight slip.
