IMO the 888's are the better tyre and they will stay road legal for longer.

I tried some 265/45x16" Kumho's on mine for a while. But due to the tread design, after only 1k they would be deemed illegal.

They only had 3 full depth sections of tread, the outer edges had reduced depth. Because of this, it would fall foul of the 1.6mm over 75% of the tread width rule.

Narrower tyres might survive longer though.

The 888's are just a bloody good tyre

Hankook, Federal, Yoko, Dunlop etc ?

What about some used slicks ? might just be cheaper all round. Although 16" is less common.

Always lots for sale on Pistonheads. A seller there, Steve Harkness seems to sell loads. Although I did try emailing him few times earlier in the year and got no response. So maybe he doesnt actually want to sell any of them lol

Maxsport remoulds are another option. Get mixed reports on them though.

I gave up emailing him in the end and rang him, although that took a few times,
Like said above there not worth the money IMO, starting off with 3mm tread new is a no no for me,
Have a look at the khumo moulded slicks getting good reviews

Is it a road legal tyre you want ? Or just a track tyre ?

And is it just for a bit of fun, or is it actual timed laps ? ie, you need a very good tyre to be competitive, or you just need good tyres that will last and let you have fun ?
