Default Mk1 FRS key and key fob.

To save my blushes and my neighbours eardrums can anyone give me a quick run down on the correct use of the key and key fob for the Mk1 Focus RS. I read somewhere that you use the buttons on the standard key to lock (set the deadlocks) the car then press the larger button on the separate fob to alarm the car. Then to unlock the car you press the small button on the fob to deactivate the alarm and then use the key to unlock the deadlocks is this correct as i still keep setting the alarm off so i must be going wrong somewhere.

Cheers all.

Make sure all doors are closed... Then lock using the key button... Then re-open with the RS fob and now use that from now on and not the key buttons as the alarms collide if open with one and lock with another and vis versa .

Oh well done mate. Is it the one that you posted up about a few days ago? Get some picks up when you get it, i want to put some pics up of mine but it was raining all day on Monday when i got it and it's dark when i get in from work. Will get some up hopefully at the weekend.

Cheers Matt. Does that mean that the normal key is redundant for locking purposes and only used for turning the ignition on? So i just use the RS fob for locking and unlocking?

I just lock the car using the button on the key (deadlock) and then press the button on the rs fob... That way both alarms are set..

Then to unlock press the rs fob button ( that will unlock the doors). And then press the unlock button on the key. (if you open the door before that the standard ford alarm will go off)

Bit of a faff, but that way both alarms are armed for your peace of mind. Lol

If the alarm keeps going off after you have set it with above instructions id say the alarm is goosed whic is a common problem on FRS mk1

Just make sure u use the big button on the fob to lock and unlock. The small button on the fob is a panic button so the alarm will go off if u push that one.

Cheers for that mate, wondered what the small button did. That's probably why the alarm keeps going off when i press it, i just thought i was not arming the alarm correctly as i didn't realise it was a panic alarm.
