Default Mk2 RS2000 5 Speed conversion ?

Hello

I am wanting to convert my car from 4spd to 5spd, using a type 9 box from a sierra, what i would like to know is ;

1, do i have to cut the tunnel for the gearstick
2, can i use the existing flywheel and clutch
3, do i need to remove the welded mounts from the tunnel for the 4spd box.

if anyone can help i would be most grateful.

cheers
Jeremy

I may be wrong but as far as I understand the hole has to be moved for the gear lever. No problem with the flywheel and you may possibly get away with the standard clutch but relacement is the better option anyway. Think the splines on the 5 speed may be different but not sure Then you would need to get another gearbox mounting, typically from a Sierra or Granada and that should sort you out. Hope I am not wrong with some of the pointers here

If it,s a rs 2000 then all you have to do is move the
welded bracket,s on the floor , cause the hole is in the
right place ,the clutch is fine, and the prop will fit . or
you can use a wider crossmember and bolt it through
the floor .

The prop will fit as long as it is RS2000 type, split or straight
