Default Mondeo ST TDCI

New to this forum so thought i may aswell throw up my little project

Times and dates may not make sense as most of it is copied from another forum but im sure youll get the idea, ive owned the car for about 7 months now

So...

Bought it completely standard about a month or so ago
Full service history
New Injectors
New EGR valve
New fuel pump
And a few other bits and bobs

About 3 weeks later

This happened

Old vs new

Sorry for the rubbish picture, but now looks like this

Has actually made a pretty noticeable difference compared too what i was expecting

So currentley fitted:

HID's
White side lights
White numberplate lights
Blanked off EGR valve
Bigger intercooler
Decat
DMB Badges

This week ill be getting quotes for the rest of the exhaust system too be custom made so hopefully get that done in the next few weeks! then ill be looking too get it mapped

About to order Eibach 40mm springs in a minute, may look into coilovers in the near future but want too get all the grills done in gloss black and the wheels too be refurbed in graphite grey first

First off, i took a trip down too infinity exhausts near bristol and had a full stainless system from my decat back made up, extremely happy with how it now sounds

I then did a little wrapping inside, dont usually like carbon wrap but decided too try it out and tbh i really like it! none will be going on the outside though

Then did a little debadging and fitted a new numberplate

Ohh and a rubbish video, but you get the jist
Let my mate drive it as shes insured on it now, she loves it

Clutch was fitted last month, booked in for a new gearbox (first motion shaft bearing is going) new aux belt tensioner, belt and new pulleys and a full service

Also

Wheel spacers for the rear, these are 10mm and ideally i want 20mm for the rear so once i get a chance ill put these on the front

Also i have removed the front upper and lower grill, fog light surrounds and rear trim bits to spray gloss black and will be splitting the headlights to spray black

as I'm still waiting for my new clutch to arrive I've been just fiddling about doing some little jobs I've wanted to do for an age

Painted my callipers yellow as the red didn't work anymore with my new theme being blue and yellow
Also refurbed my drive shafts, new cv boots too and painted the shafts up

Good news and some frustrating news

firstly, it got mapped today

Annoying bit is that i have some bushes gone on the front end which is causing the car to skip when the power was put down on the dyno so i dont currently have a print out of the current power it would get to 175bhp then the wheels would just start spinning on the rollers

ive been told as soon as i get all the front end bushes replaced he will put it back on the dyno and get me a reading, hes pretty sure that its now over 200bhp though as he has done a fair few now with no mods and got some pretty tasty figures, obviously i cant prove this untill i get it all sorted though

Also the car is now a dream to drive, pulls really hard all the way through the revs and i even managed to get it spinning all the way into 4th gear :s

and then 60 miles later my turbo decided it was going to die

Right so ive ordered a new turbo and that should be here today ''17th october''

That just about brings up up to date today

Please feel free to rate or slate

looking good mate, weve just bought a tdci st aswell and i love it, we managed to get one with xenons, recaros, satnav, parking sensors etc.

It needs a new egr which i will get from jaguar soon but at the moment it is blanked off but as ours is a 56reg/euro 4 model it sometimes goes into limp mode with the blanking plate so we will have to keep ours working.

where did you get the single mass flywheel from? has it made any difference to pick up speeds?

if our dual mass goes ill be fitting a single mass aswell.

got any videos of the exhaust sound? i want a stainless for ours but cannot stand daft diesel exhausts

looking good though man

Sounds like your turbo is running over speed. Might be time to look for an uprated turbo.

Got my new intercooler today, smaller in terms of height but works out as the same specs as the old one as its thicker/wider
Should hopefully be able to be mounted under the crash bar so it can come further out the bumper as my last one was so tall it had to sit parly behind the crash bar meaning it was quite set back

Hi I've not done a comment before so here goes.
Cars looking good an you've spent some time an money getting there.
Have got the tdci st too but standard.
Had to replace the hydraulic clutch slave cyl on my titanium.
What a pain. Replaced the dual mass f/ wheel too with same product.
Seems ok but gears can be tight in 1st may need bleeding again but was wondering as you have a solid f/wheel an up /clutch do you get a lot of vibration now that the dual mass is supposed to prevent.

I can only assume through the front wheels an feeling vibrations through steering wheel.
Were any mods needed to go from dual mass to a solid f/wheel or did it all fit ok

I have an 05 tdci st estate,I'd love to have it looking good like yours but I use it every day and don't have the time to mod it.
If anything ever happened to it I'd be looking for the newest st estate I could find I like it so much.
Keep up the hard work!

Personally, i would stick with the ST wheels, nothing else looks good IMO, what ones you have in mind? And are the originals up for sale if your changing them?

From memory it had all injectors and the high pressure pump replaced to cure the EML/EDC light being on. That was a while ago though. I seem to remember it was running lumpy and occasionally cutting out.

I spoke to soon!
Mine always started on 2 cylinders for a few secs then chucked out smoke when it caught, took it to my electronics whizz kid pal who uploaded the latest software,it runs worse now so the injectors are out and away to be reconditioned.
Took a filter sample and alls well so the pump is ok for now.
Think I'll run it a few months then buy a 2.5 titanium x sport, too much to go wrong with more modern diseasels and I love the 5 cyl soundtrack!

What are you doing to it to need a 2nd set of injectors, several gearbox's and turbos

Mine is near 100k, just changed the DMF and clutch and its only original turbo, gearbox etc

cheers all

possibly going bbs ch's but these wheels wont be up for sale

To be fair most of the problems with this car have been my fault, as i drive it hard most of the time, but i enjoy it and am looking at doing a few track days this year!
only thing that hasnt been my fault is the blowing of 2 turbos, that was down to the shit remap i had on it
