Default Cambelt change interval depends on spec?

Hi! Heard about every 10 - 20K miles on high powered engines. How do you handle it? Is there a standard value? Would never neglect this item but it's interesting to know.

What would you class as high powered. For the sake of 70/80 quid for a belt and tensioner(yb) its not really worth the risk.

I changed the timing belt on my wifes 1.6 focus 2 weeks ago.The car has 95k on it and the belt look as if it had only been fitted a year or so ago.It still had the writing on it.

Would say 500 HP and above. The wear of a cambelt affected by the speed range and what camshaft is in use not from the horsepower or torque it make (only a guess)?

The belt and tensioner isn't expensive, thats right, but if you add the costs for the fitting it is a difference between every 10 or 50K.......

Thanks for the answers so far.
Anymore?

Could you not fit the belt yourself.Or do you not know of anyone who could do it.

The wear of a timing belt depends on more factors. Had ask some motorsport companys. For example worn teeth on camshaft gear wheel will quickens the wear on a timing belt and some more points .... it was interesting to know, have to read the rest.
