Question mk2 focus rs mountune air box lid ?????

Hi there,

i have just put a k&n filter into my mp350 focus rs.
But when i fitted it i was tempted to leave the lid off ??
Would the car need mapping or would it be better to leave the lid off and
just keep the base ??

please help me out !!

thanks

why would you want to leave the lid off? It will allow heat from the engine to be sucked in.

And the whistle fro the turbo will annoy you after a while.

After your comment its obviously a bad thing
To do ?
On all my previous Cars I've always had the air
Box removed!

Thanks

After I spoke to mountune last week about eml coming on(dealer said it was the mountune kit causing it)
First thing they said was did I have a k&n filter fitted as they have seen them cause the fault code in the past
I will be keeping the ford filter in mine(for now anyway)

but to answer your question yeah put the lid back on !

The K&N oil gets on the MAF sensor and triggers the EML.. Not a big deal and wont keep happening once the filters done some mileage.

Its best to leave it on mate, you dont see many RS with open filter setup for a reason.
