Hi guys I'm considering buying a mk2 escort rs2000 and was wondering if all the chassis numbers on them should start with a GCAT number,
Also on the log book should it say rs2000, or just escort rs.
Any info on this would be a big help,

Yes GCAT, but other escorts can also have that too. my 1.3 Ghia has.
Logbook can have escort RS or RS2000 depends on the year. Also it can have Custom on there too if its one,

 

as above my automatic shell starts gcat

 

Thanks guys, so if it has a GCAT number and has rs on the log book it stands a good chance of being a genuine I'd, the shell however is a different story, fortunately I restore mk1 avo cars for a living so I've got a good idea what to look for on a genuine mk2 rs. It's just the mk2 numbers I've not had any experience with.
You can never know enough that's what I say.
