Default st engine in a sierra?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows of or tried to fit a 2.5 5cyl turbo engine from a focus st into a 2wd sierra??

And would it be worth any less if I did this, its a proper low milage cossie but finding an old yb engine gets harder and harder

Thanks for any advice and comments

You need to custom fabricate the mounts and they need to be fairly long

Been there done that and it's a pain in the arse but would be worth doing if you've got the time and the fab skills to do it

I got bored and then got rid of the sierra it it all fits, I measured it all up and it's doable

Sound, what gearbox did you use? Fabrication isnt too much of a worry for me fortunatly but I don't want to make the car worthless by doing it

When it meant a lot of work to make Ho the engine mounts I sort of quit while I was behind

If you look at the bare block you will see that there are virtually no points along its length to stick any mounts on either side do you are left with tieing into either end or using the intermediate cross shaft mount or the actual exhaust mounts or the from end somewhere

The front of the engine has 2 knock sensors screwed to it as well so if you turn it through 90 degrees and make it onto the drivers side you've got to think about where the rack is going to go as well as the sump sits very low and the bowl is not just at the front but at the back as well as the whole thing is designed to be slotted in from underneath

Not an issue on a front wheel drive car but a right pain in the arse for turning it sideways

That said, there are plenty of Volvo peeps who will have done a rwd conversion so maybe scouting about on their forums would be an idea

if you've got the time and the engine and the shell give it a go, it might be hard but at least it'll be different

There's a restro thread on here with a guy fitting a focus st engine into a 100e pop he managed to fit it with a little thought so the bigger sierra shouldn't be a problem if you've got the skills

No Ford 'box bolts up unless you make an adaptor plate:

I think I've come up with a way around the sump/subframe clearance issue and incorporating places for the sierra mounts to fit too.

Just need to get my hands on a engine for an hour for inspection
