help!! engine makes a horrible noise at 2000rpm

Hi need some help my mk1 focus 1.6 zetec se engine seems to be making a knocking noise whilst reving at 2000-3000rpm, then goes once over it. Any ideas?? Thanks

Sounds like the bottom ends fucked.

Replacement engine, scrap or px look like options to me.

Big end bearings failed. My guess would be oil starvation, high miles and or infrequent oil changes. Any of that match?

Could be prior to me owning the car , its been service well for the past 3 years but could earlier poor maintence decrease the life of the bottom end?

No it's not. Cheaper and easier to fit a replacement lump.
Search on utube for Zetec bottom end and see if they sound familiar.

Lol yeah some of them are smashed!
If yours is just knocking between 2-3k it's on it's way.
As Clarke said above it would be worth putting up a vid or running it in a garage to get confirmation.

Havnt been able to record a vid, took it to a well known ford garage and they described it as nothing theyvenever herd of before:s really confused now lol

Go and record it running, don't need to see it running, just hear it, so doesn't matter that it's dark

Il try and record it about 11pm tonight lol, the knocking noises seems to come from the engine but its not a loud knock, seems to kinda stick revs to 2000 even when giving it a bit more the shoots to 4000rpm
