350bhp RWD Saff. Compares to what?
Had my car for 17 years now, ran it at stage 1 for the last 10 quite happily, but then decided to stage 3 it this year (mid life crisis?). Got it set up about 3 weeks ago, just been for another run in it, and I'm absolutely amazed at the mid-range pull it has now, 50 upwards is a blur.
So, in real terms, what does it compare to performance wise? Close to 300bhp/ton now so I'm curious.
Can't stop grinning...

I would have thought an E39 M5 would be trailing, 50bhp more but a lot more weight.
What we looking at re Porkers etc? No pissing contest here, just a Sunday night debate.
Dicko, should have done it years ago

Realistically, you don't see much on the road that would beat it. Anything sub 300ish that isn't a kit car will be no match. Don't think any of the 911 range bar the turbo would be able to hold against it. Evos and Scoobys would have to be stage 1 to be able to stay with if not just beat it. Can't really think of much that would really destroy a stage 3 saph unless you're talking supercars. Even the baby range of supercars (Gallardo, Gransport, F360, F430, Aston V8 Vantage) would probably beat it but most of them would probably have to find the nearest vodka bar and have a few drinks to calm down after trying to comprehend how they couldn't shake a shonky old saph off their rear bumper!
I've always maintained for the road in any car 300bhp plus is serious pace and any more than that then it is insane power to have on the road. A stage 1 Evo 8/9/10 producing 400bhp/400ft.lbs is ridiculously quick for most roads and no doubt a stage 3 saph is probably the same if not a bit more brutal.

Mines around 400bhp and I was pushing a r8 v8 round snetterton for near on an hour
then my diff exploded lol when it was 350bhp I had a good run with an brand new Aston Martin, he hammered it up to 100 then backed off! I think he was surprised the saff was still behind him. He pulled up in the lane next to me when we stopped at traffic lights and said "nice car mate" and nodded
I replied "I'll do you a swap" lol he didn't hahaha

You say that but when the cosworth starts to smell funny and get hot at 130 the m3 will whistle past and keep going so pointless IMHO
And my e36 3.0ltr although had a bit done to it never had stage 3 cosworths give me any trouble
But from I'd say 30 to 100 against a standard m3 the cosworth will be very slightly quicker
After that the m3 will pull its pants down

My m3 gave 326bhp on evolves rollers and I never got hassled by a stage 3 cossie
But I did say mine wasn't standard
Loved that car
I used to wipe the floor with M3s in my old 370Bhp 2wd, really was a fast car IMHO. Lots of power & torque, not a lot of weight. Was fun battering 996 Porsches as well.
A circa 400Bhp 2wd Cos with the right mods is an absolute weapon, even now the new M3 is 420Bhp and less torque, and weighs in at over 1650Kgs without fuel!
They may be old, but done right a Cossie is still a potent weapon.
I am seriously thinking about selling up & going for a 911 turbo, but I just can't let go for some reason

Cossie will feel quicker because the way it gives its power out, the M3 does not feel quick because it is progressive. I had a M3 Evo and they really do come on song in third. They surprised a shit load of other cars when they get going, they will go passed a E46 M3 when you start getting to silly speeds and stick with the E39 M5.
The cosworth is a straight line power house that can be tuned. The M3 will do a decent straight line speed, go like fuck around corners, be comfy and take the family out and be safe all under one package. This is what the M3 Does, it is not a master at anything but good at everything. Shouldnt really compare them as they are from different times.
For the record, my RWD Cosworth Escort went passed a 370z like it was stood still, mine is a good stage 3 and lighter than the normal. The guy in the 370z was giving it everything and got blown a new ass hole. I want to try a M3 E46 and then a E90 as I think it would certainly give the E90 ago from 30 to 100mph. After that both the M3;s would rape me
