Xr2000
ok, i have been on here for a while now and never been bothered to start a thread. but i thought i would to see if it will help my motivation.
in the beginning , the car started out as a fairly standard xr2.

drove it as it was for about 12 months, then 1 winter it made me loss 3 days work due to breaking down. so bought a new car a kept this as a project. engine was the only thing on my mind, spent over 1k on rebuilding the cvh with twin 40 dellautos, gas flowed head, newmans fast road cam, ashley 4 branch, vernier pulley, better dizzy, full rebuild. once built i took it out for a spin and it wouldn't rev, had a few plays with it and it was having non of it. i ended up taking it to aldon automotive who also couldn't get it to rev. so ended up breaking the cvh.

only pic i have
when looking for a zetec, a close friend of mine had just had his rs2000 written off and he had only just rebuilt his engine so i bought it of him very cheap.
whilst the car was off the road i had 2 new wings and front panel, plated some holes in the inner wing and fabricated a mount for the rs engine, the fit is good, with only 2 issues. it sits high so my plan is to lower the engine slightly, also little room for alternator so going to use a small racing alternator ive seen.
due to going injection i decided i wanted to have a alloy fuel tank in the boot as i think it makes the car look that bit different. inside the plans are to go very minimal and light weight.
here are just a few recent pics of how it stands, hoping to get it painted very soon.
thanks for looking

ok finally car has paint on it, really happy with it all things considered. went with radiant red 2k direct gloss, just giving it a few weeks for all the solvent to release from the paint then it will be moped and kit fitted. doubt i'll get much time up the unit with christmas coming up.
comments please after all hole thing to prime and paint only cost Ł300

ok i've been up the unit today, just made a start on putting it back together.
didnt get much done due to my kids being scared of the fireworks and my mother-in-law wanting me to pick them up
anyway started off by taking off the masking tape, rubbing down a couple of runs, fitting bonnet lights ect.....
rolled it outside to get a better look at it. i really am happy with the paint job, not the best but should look spot on when totally finished.

good finish start out of the gun, should be like glass once mopped

cant wait to get the kit bonded on so it looks like it should do

painted and fitted the mirrors and door locks, love the look of the California style mirrors

thats all for now, progress is slow due to having a busy life. next up date should be a better 1 with better pics.

Next to do is paint and fit body kit, plus going to make bonnet open the proper way. Then mop hole car then wait til I can afford to finish the engine and brakes lol
