smell of fuel in oil and smoke when let off the throttle
Morning people. first off noticed a smell of fuel in my oil when checking it and also car smokes a bit when i let off the throttle. just had my tappets and stem seals done a few weeks ago and car was also set up about a month ago. Planning a compression test when i get home. any other help or thots wud be appreciated.

have you changed the oil since it was set up again ?
if it's been badly overfuelling for a while that could account for the fuel in the oil and could also cause premature wear in the bores due to bore wash.. basically the excess fuel removes the oil film from the bores and the rings wear faster.
if the oil is thinned out by the fuel it could be passing the rings easier..
Get a comp test done and change the oil and see what you're left with if the comp test is 'normal'..

cheers for the reply.no havnt changed the oil since it was set up. was runnin fuchs pro race 5/30 but goin to change to millers cfs 10/40. will get compression test done as soon as i get back from offshore and change the oil. but starting to think they mite b gone with getting smoke on lift off also.
Is it possible one of the stem seals wasn't seated quite all the way and it's popped off or did you use the Top hat style ones ?.I only ask because i made the same mistake myself. Oh and i assume were talking about the S2 in your Profile pic ? .
