Default Mk3 - Mk2 escort

Hey guys, just making a post about my mk2/mk3, not quite sure what it is (was advertised as a mk3 1.3L, but i thought mk3's were 5 doors, not the 3 which mine has, and my mother bought it for me so yeah :s)
I picked one up not too long ago, 88,000 miles on the clock, and was wondering, what can i do to improve the retro look of the interior and exterior? is there any bodykits which make it look more like the rally escort?
Cheers in advance, sam.

There is quite a difference between the two:

mk2

mk3

If it looks like the mk3 in the pic, I wouldn't do much to the outside, that looks really cool, love mk3's!
Maybe some rst Recaro's for the inside?

hmm okay, cheers, i'll look those up, the only reason i wanted a body kit was because i saw a rs turbo, and it looked amazing, so i was wondering whether there was any replica bodykits for them which fitted a mk3

Awsome car, guessing its your first car?

Me personaly i would try and copy a rally car, just keep it simple, prohaps lower it 25mm and put a nice set of wheels on it 16 or 17"

yes it is my first car it's got a small amount of damage to one wheel arch, thats the only problem, apart from needing possibly a new gear linkage, but yes, it's my first car
Also, i was looking for the rally car look myself, will it need a body kit?

Was going to say an XR3i kit an spray the metal bumper parts body colour, but, looking at the arch, an S1 kit may hide that!
Was thinking that, if you kept mods simple, you would get an easier time with the insurance....

Okay, sweet, cheers man! Would you be able to link me a s1 kit? and i'm looking at fixing the arch, would an xr3i kit be okay if i did?
Also aye, i mean we're only paying Ł17 a month for it as my mother has 9 years no claims, and i'm going on her insurance, so it shouldnt be too steep

Might be worth looking on here, if not, good old eBay... The '3i kit is just a front spoiler and a bit in front of the rear wheel, so wouldn't cover the rust. Same tailgate spoiler on 3i and S1....

That's the kinda thing! When it comes to the front spoiler bit, try to get one with a tow eye cover, as I think they're like rocking horse poo!

Also known as fronting and not technically legal.Insure it in your own name,it may not be all that expensive on a car like that.

What?? You didn't even know what kind of car you had a few hours ago and you want boost already

I'd concentrate on the arches that are hanging together if i were you.Best have a good look underneath it too, sure to be rotten elsewhere.

Turbo indeed

The wheel arch is getting fixed on saturday, so that's alright

That's good then, don't think i'm being nasty or anything but i've had my fair share of Escorts and i know how they like to rot.

Get the basics sorted first then move onto the fancy stuff

That will explode if you put a turbo on it

Its your first car, get it looking right, clean it up, but dont 'modify' it, not worth it with insurance. For example,

If you declare your turbo, expect Ł20k+ premiums, if you don't declare your turbo and crash, insurance void, loss of licence.

Use it for a year or 2, build up no claims and experience, then go and hunt for boost.

ah okay lads, cheers
Cory, do you have a picture sir?
Also, i know this is a mk2, but are there any kits like this for a mk3? This is beautiful..
Also, do y'all think putting a bodykit on would make the insurance rocket?

Only 'widebody' kit available for the MK3/MK4. Search Gartrac Escort, not sure if you can even buy the kit mind!

Just go for the S1 look as suggested.

That looks really nice, actually, although i doubt it would in my escorts colour, i might just get the car sprayed black, and do you know any decent alloys? I'm fairly new, obviously i know of bbs but.. yeah, haha, also, is there any decent loud exhausts out there?
(I know i'm probably sounding like a gary boy, but yeah)

If you can find an insurance company that will give you a classic policy it will be very cheap but not many will cover anyone under 25 for a classic policy!!!
