Tensioner is okay but belt is overdue for replacement. Removed O/S engine mount today and lowered engine for better access, made a suitable 1/2" square tensioner tool and was able to release belt tension and remove belt from pulleys BUT could not remove belt from tensioner. My Haynes manual states "slip off the belt", however I cannot see how belt can be removed and renewed without removing inaccessIble tensioner. Regrettably had to put old belt back on! Can anyone please advise how I get round this problem?

 

its a bit krypton factor
it does fit out if you turn it sideways and squeeze it thru a gap
but its a pure cunt
