Escort mk4 zetec daily drive
Orite everyone. Thought I'd share with you what I'm driving at the mo. Fancied a cheap fun wee car to run around in while I sorted my Orion (P&J). I Picked this up at the start of July down near Falkirk.
Quick rundown of the car is a mattise blue 88' Escort 'L' with a 2.0 zetec on RS1800 management, unknown gearbox, 421 with an rs turbo stainless, Cosworth brakes, 40mm lowering kit, tidy 90's spec turbo interior and some pish 15's.
I've had it just over a month now and it's great on fuel and drives spot on if a little lumpy on idle. Ex owner was told their was upgraded cams in it but they're Ford stamped so unless they're reprofiled they're boggo spec. Only problem I've had so far is the fuel pump relay wiring had come apart but after a bit of headscratching found it up behind the dials of all places so that was an easy fix.
I've just taxed it and plan on keeping it for a while , only plans I have are to get some quality tires and round wheels on it, tidy up a few bits and use it!
Piccies!
Coming up the road!

Long time no speak Jim! No i've convinced myself that If I get a sierra it'll be a Cosworth! You still got your own collection?
Cheers Rab, I've got some S2 alloys that i'm debating painting black! But aye wheels are a must , these are fifty pences!
Thanks Smiler
Had a spur of the moment buy and picked this up for next to nothing locally. A bolt in safety devices half cage. What was I thinking!
Probably something along the lines of "That'll look the bizz.."

It won't be an RS rep as long as I own it. I'm loving the poverty looks!

You're not getting it! Cheers mate!
It was but didn't sell there.

I don't but John ballallan has just broken a red 88 spec rs turbo so he'd be you're best bet!
Also just ordered four new Toyo T1R proxes for the S2 turbo alloys, and some electric orange paint for the cage and engine bits!
Aye, I hope so! The Orion's my real pride and joy. I'm planning on rebuilding and fitting an mfi RS turbo engine to standard spec, and work on from there. I'm just waiting for the right time to pull my finger out!
The Zetec conversion is a very wise choice! Reliable (touch wood), good on fuel and pretty quick with the right bits stuck on! Go for it!

Fitted the amber indies and repeaters that I had from the Orion. Looks better imo.

Started painting my spare S2 alloys.
"Satin Black" was in stock so that was layed on. The 3rd alloy is being blasted as it was pretty goosed, flaky and lumpy paint. Hopefully get that back tommorow morning and I can lay down some more paint.

The engines well bedded in then, probably why its got so much go in it! and the alloys are only fit for the bin!

Yesterday I changed the back springs to lower ones as it was sitting like a wedge before. Level now.

Toyo's came yesterday aswell. Ł131.00 for four - great value.
Going to get them fitted today hopefully.
