Everyone knows its been bent but no one knows what happened to it

I would say the bonnet has opened on track !

 

was it on a parade lap....

Bonnet pins failed?

last year i went all the way to scotland and paid 7.5k for a cossie powered mk1 escort looked over it paid my money drove off down the road after 20 miles bonnet flew up smashed windscreen bent roof and snapt hinges off i had not refitted the bonnet pins i was gutted

 

I did the same with my mk1 escort about 20years ago.First drive out chasing what i thought was my mate in a 3dr.Lucky I only did the bonnet

 

Just left there and see it outside getting fixed

 

After having my roll cage done in the 5 i was towing it home (had to go on the trailer backwards as the engines in the boot, to keep the weight near the tow car)
Apparently i hadnt closed the passenger door properly. As i went down the sliproad to join the motorway it flew open,
Fucked the door, ripped the checkstrap out of the A post and fucked the wing

 

as said his bonnet flipped,and its not jamsports car just every ine thinks it is

 

Title is misleading, its just the windscreen by the looks of it (and probably his pride). Gavin from Autoglass should have that sorted in a jiffy

 

The bonnet looks fucked on the corner too though..

Done this on my mgv8 on my way down to hythe went over a bump heard a pop thought what the fek is that ! next moment no road to see just a big GPR bonnet in my face ,then it was gone over the back of the car ,the lorry behind went over it strait down the middle not one of his tyres touched it , so I stoped an got it back on the car an secured with help from an old bungy I found at the side of the road ! lucky day could of had a very bad outcome.

yeah, i spotted it getting a new screen fitted outside.

 

there were at least 2 sets of track time that were red flagged due to people having off's

needless to say, some folk wern't happy

 

They seemed very quick to red flag. A escort cossie pulled up and parked up well off the track and far from the racing line yet a few mins later the red flag came out while it was recovered.

 

i sat for a while in a stand on entrance to track and the red flag was out a lot, and no-one seemed to do many laps at all, i think the best i counted was 4.
just seemed they were using any excuse to halt the track sessions, i'll take that away as an opinion and not a fact.

 

Bonnet flew open, poor guy. His pride and joy, said Gavin auto glass was coming, not even he could fix that crack. Top motor and owner.

 

Did same 10years ago in my series1 rs, was at southend with bonnet up and mate didnt close bonnet properly, I never bothered checking assuming he wasnt an idiot got on A127 on way home giving it some up came bonnet did windscreen sunroof and bent scuttle panel was pissed!

I did see the fiesta coming off track and thought the bonnet had come up gutted :-(

 

Sorry that was me i pulled well off in the hope they didnt stop it rather than limp round on tick over (cable sanapped) and cause for of a hazzard. If you went back round and re qued they let you back on as my mate did but not everyone knew that and went off. Could have recoverd at end
