I've had it long enough to know how to fix pretty much everything on it, its cheap to fix and I don't know what I'd own instead

I have a 3 door and owned it for 20 years, I know there are better cars but as above it's easy to maintain and a cheap hobby really, also if I sold it and then changed my mind I would struggle to find another, if I get fed up I leave it for a while then go back to it when interest has resumed.

My 3dr... Took me 28years to finally buy it... It's been a child hood dream... And it's lovely to drive such a retro fast car... And I could stand looking at it all day long... And till death do us part..!

I love my saff.Same as above there are better cars out there but a lot of modern cars look boring. The saff is easy to maintain and the buts arnt really dear.

The car gets a lot of looks.I just love the power it has for a 21 year old car.

for me the badge was never that important as my first legal car I bought after passing my test was a capri and the fact it was a rs was not that important, and now some 29 ish years later its still here although its not been driven in anger since the late 1990s hence why I have plodded around in all manner of fords since including a few other rs models

There's some emotional attachment to my S1 if I'm honest. I've owned her 17 years now, and when I've been through some pretty dark times and needed something to focus on, the car was it. Sounds daft, but when you need some sense of normality when everything else around you is haywire and need an 'anchor' which won't judge you, let you down, criticise etc you can focus on anything. I used the S1. That's not to say the car is the be-all and end-all as she's far from that, but she helped me through some really tough times.

And she looks lovely too !

Like Matt has said it took me over 20 years to get it as well and I love the attention she gets

I've had my S2 a while now and can't imagine it not being in my garage; I'm under no illusion where it ranks in the best S2 or hot hatch list but it goes well enough for a old Escort and I make it slightly better every winter.

I like my Sapphire too and according to motoring journos who've driven a bigger variety of cars than me it's "better" than any of the BMW M-cars. Not faster, newer, costlier.....just "better". I'll take their word for it.....

Generally, I can't stretch to a GT2 RS or 1M coupe either which are the only other things that pique my interest ...

i keep mine(for time being) for the smile factor.yes its only an xr2i with a turbo conversion but modern day cars are all driven by pcs and done for you.older fords you have to drive and feel the way the car is behaving.the smells the rattles the paranoid feeling of whats going to break next.its the best lol

Speak for yourself lol

Non turbo Porsche's like Boxter, carrera easily, done it many times, and a tuned cosworth RS YB/YBT will obliterate the same cars and more. only 1 of the points of keeping your RS and not selling it.

A tuned YB yes, but you were talking about RS Turbo's if I read it correctly. And 'out the box' a standard Boxster would lunch a standard YB.

Spot on mate. I'm not narrow minded but there ain't many cars out there that take my fancy but unless i was like j clarkson who gets to drive all these wonderful cars,i'll never know and so i'm happy with my Rs and never going to sell. Many Cars better? i disagree personally but this all depends on what your comparing it too lol. A few selected cars better yes

Rs Rules but only because people like us keep them going. Where would Ford be now, i doubt the Focus Rs would ever of been made without them knowing we wanted more.

Boxter = 240BHP ish more or less not alot of torque either, i forgot to mention although its part of the list without attaching it to everyone's RS Turbo, Go EFi instead of MFi, more power capability and even more on different management with the correct components.

I drove my work colleges Carrera 4S a while ago, all i can say about it is the the power through the rev range was very similar if not the same, good popint on the 4s compared to a tuned RS is that its naturally aspirated. I do have a very highly Tuned Engine, if it was standard RS with a few mods then no you would be right, in my case this isnt a problem, much to the dissatisfaction of the Porsche driver lol, i have to argue about the YBT being lunched though mate regardless if the Boxter is out of the wrappers or not standard YB to Standard Boxter is very similar, werent the cosworths RS's 240-260BHP standard ? along with matching 4 wheel drive and the P8 ecu they had i recon a standard COSSY would probably put a good fight up againt a boxter.

This is very true, when i drive my Lexis IS obviously without a turbo its almost boring and leaves you in need of that BOOST PULL compared to a Turbo in most cars really.

A turbod 911 ..... well much faster much more of a competitor compared to a non turbo standard Boring Boxter. ll

I'm not finished with mine yet, it can still steer better, handle better, be a better drive, and be quicker... I've built mine myself and know it can be better even though a standard 3series hands better as standard- I'm stubborn I guess LOL

A Boxter would run rings around an RST on B roads, it may be the low end of the Porsche scale, but it's a Porsche with Porsche engineering nonetheless

I keep my Escos because it suits my anti social cunt personality perfectly

On a plus note it's part of the family and prettier than money in the bank
