Default EGR Valve, needed, Important....TDCI?

Reading on Google about EGR valves. Some people say blank them off others say give them a good clean but this on VW's, Rover's......What about a Mondeo TDCI? Anyone know where it lives and does it need cleaning or blanking off?

i blanked mine off on my focus tdci, runs much smoother, well worth a couple of quid for one off ebay

Been told not to use the alloy ones of ebay as they melt, but yeah thay do drive better with them blanked off mate
