would a tired turbo drive any differently or just smoke?

my FRS turbo has done 112k now and i think its on its way out, i get a puff of smoke after overrun in the usual fashion.

i have notived the car doesnt seem too smooth, engine seems to hunt a little even with steady throttle input and it just doesnt seem to drive how it used to, engine is running bluefin with forge actuator plumbed direct onto compressor housing

thinking about a hybrid but waiting till funds allow
