Need a bit of help with my mondeo. i had to replace my 2002 petrol mondeo gearbox the second hand box i got was out of a 2004 mondeo with same part numbers. the promblom i have is that after fitting the new gearbox i notice one plug that used to go to the gearbox had nuffin to plug in to. so looked at the old box to see what was missing from the new one and it was the vss. on the new box it had a blanker were vss should be so removed that and fitted the vss. but my speedo is not working. so im thinking maybe what ever the vss picks up signal from in side the box is not there. so has any one got any ideas what the promblom could be.

 

Could be that the speedo signal is picked up from an ABS ring instead of from the VSS in the gearbox. Think it's going to be a case of either swap gearbox internals over or go looking for a new box.

 

thanks for your reply. that's what i was thinking but i would of thought if the box had same part number they should be the same. do you no what the vss picks up from in the box?

 

any one else on here got any ideas?

 

Afraid I have no ideas regarding the internals of the box, no doubt someone on here will be along with the answer!
