Default NEED HELP!!!!

hi I have a fiesta RS turbo and I have problems with it overheating it had a rebuild 3-4k ago so I cant see it being waterpump or head gasket myself, iv recently flushed the rad out and that was ok this was a good condition 2nd hand rad bought just before the rebuild my fan is on a switch so I know it works , my heaters blow through hot so it cant be an air lock can it??? all of my hoses get hot so have circulation I have no leaks and no smoke from the engine, I recently took the thermostat out to test it and found it was fucked to an running no stat ATM to see if it's cures it but (done a few days ago) but yesterday it started over heating again :/ and when it does the hoses go quite hard :/ anyone got any ideas? really P ing me off now

I've had a similar problem in my ERST after a rebuild, mine was the rad. I replaced with a alloy rad.

Have the rad tested and check the heather matrix is'nt blocked. Put a new stat in asap though. That would help long term.

You've checked the oil and water?

Fiesta RST have always ran hot unless you improve the cooling on them! mine used to then I improved things on mine and it has made a big difference!

From what you have said it does does sound like a blockage! I would try hosing out the coolant system with a garden hose. same for the radiator. while you are having issues make sure you are using a plastic header tank as they "give" / expand a bit under pressure so you are less likely to blow a hose off!

Refit the CORRECT thermostat if you can soon, Also have a look at feeding the turbo water-jacket by splitting the feed from the heater matrix as this is on all the time and not switched off my the thermostat! Another thing that can be done is the fitting of a small radiator after the turbo water-jacket to shed more heat, this is optional as the return should go into the normal rad anyway! Painting the radiator MAT BLACK will also help as it will make it noticeably more effective at radiating heat especially if it is a shiny alloy one.

If you can get a thermostat from ford for the RST it opens a bit lower than the normal one (one of the finis codes from ford I have is 1635905 - but please check it). Motor sport developments also sell a good one too theirs opens at 78ºC. This helps by allowing the engine to start shedding heat earlier, but still letting it get up to a good working temp quickly. Red line make something called "water wetter" which improves the efficiency of the cooling fluid.

Any questions PM me! I have a few pics to show you what is what if that helps!

Brendan

PS if you can do a compression test as this will eliminate a faulty head gasket and exhaust gasses pressurising the coolant system!

it's heating up straight away and hoses get harder an harder and my fan and heaters on full whack don't really slow it down much, I flushed the rad out the other day and flowed well both ways with not much crap in it, will give the full system a flush tonight and see what that brings, my water cooling to the turbo is blocked of (standard t2 ATM) as my hard pipes split when I was away from home and was easiest thing to do at the time, I will get a cooler running stat once this is sorted but ATM of its heating up quickly with no stat , so there's always flow (should run cooler surely?? ) I want to get some
proper engine coolant but ATM with the way it builds up pressure ad then makes hoses leak etc it's not feasable, my rad is a standard item, will be getting a compression test done ASAP but I would think it isn't that but it is a ford! haha thanks or all the replys and suggestions all feedback is welcome
