Default Temp insurance cover

Who can you guys recommend for temp insurance cover, basically I'm buying my mates mk6 Rs 2000 engined escort van and my mate will drive it up from Broxbourne to St Helens for me.

I had a quick look on the net and most won't cover modded cars so wondered if you lot have any ideas.

Are you insured to drive other cars?

I made the mistake of paying for temp cover then realised I could of driven it 3rd party on my policy as it was still insured.

Worth a try... But read the small print of the policy VERY carefully, some state your only covered TPFT if the vehicle your wanting to drive already has an insurance policy in place and is not in your name

That goes without saying. I think all policies are like that but the op said his mate is driving it to him so may be insured on a private policy already rather than a trade policy. (if that's different for driving on your insurance as I don't know).

Saves paying for what you don't need.

Only reason I ask is my mate has upgraded to a merc Vito van so his insurance is swapped to that, so its just a case insuring it for a day and dropping it off the escort is all legit just not insured
