turbo damper reduces the strain on exhaust manifolds bolts.

turbos vibration and weight causes that strain.

you should notice too, that there are diffirent types of dampers.

well, there is spring type dampers, like there is in cosworth, and then there is dampers, whit uniball joints. attachment whit these dampers can wary much. there is many different designs. i think tripod type damper whit uniballs is the best. you can use multiple dampers too.

the cosworths spring type dampers are good too, when adjusted correctly.
