How much power reliably in a mk1 focus rs?
Im off to look at a mk1 rs tonight, allready looked at a couple which have been around the 300hp mark but were both bad examples. Going to look at at a more expensive lower mileage one hoping its going to be in better condition, however its around 365hp at 1.7bar.
I was wondering what kind of power they start to become unreliable as im not as clued up with them as cossies for example, it seems to be well known with them that at stage 3 or over on a standard engine things are going to start going wrong pretty quick, headgaskets, turbos, clutches ect ect.
Obviously i appreciate its a tuned performance car and you cant take anything for granted

Anything up to around 360-380 is the about the limit of the standard rods and pistons along with the ECU etc. But if its been done well 365 should be pretty decent, the standard rods and pistons are actually very good. I'm guessing it has a GT28 at that power?

The standard ECU is mappable (only a few people Can do it though) so in that respect don't really have a limit.
I personally know of at least 3 cars running well over 400bhp on a mapped standard ecu.
