I had accelera alphas on my Focus, great tyre! Ecspcially in the wet.
Abit noisy, not the quiested but felt solid, gripped well and wore well!

nankangs are fucking awfull!! Heard hundreds of bad reveiws including them blow outs!
my boss bought some brand new alloys with brand new nankangs fitted and within a week he had a blow out on the motorway at 75mph with his family in the car. Road debris was not to blame nor low pressure as he checked it was a faulty tyre.

Luke,

Firstly, the correct size for the focus is 215/45/17 not a 40 profile.
Secondly, don't skimp on tyres! they are the only thing connecting you to the road!!!

Agree completley!
I got stick off some relitives the other day because on the back of my car I have a Bridgestone with about 2mm on it and a cheapy which the dealer must have put on which is brand new.
I'm replacing both with goodyears and they keep going on about how I'm wasting my money and should only have replaced the Bridgestone and how I should have replaced it with another cheap tyre

it all comes down to budget really and how you drive your car, like anything to do with tyres you get what you pay for

completely agree but when you get a brand new tyre blow out cruising on the motorway on a family mondeo you have to think, that brand isn't good!

i have nankang ns2 on my 330 sport bmw convertible

been agood tyre, grip wise in rain or snow, just a little noisey compared to michelins, but for me there fine,

i work at mini and they now use hankook on copper s's so they must be a good budget tyre as they are warrantied

dont know if this site http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/ is any good, or if the reviews are credable. i appreciate that the tire size i want is not "standard" but neither are my wheels and the tyres have been 215/40-17 since i bought the car 8yrs ago. thanks for the replies tho.

Nankangs are piss poor!! My ex stuck a pair of NS2's (after I told her to get Conti's but she decided to save a few quid) on my old 1600cc Audi estate and they couldn't even reign that in. First time she went round a damp roundabout she almost wrote the car off. I ended up skipping a pair of nearly new tyres fitting the Continentals I told her to fit in the first place. Oh and of course the whole thing ended up being my fault!?!?

I would be looking at either Kumho or maybe Falken. I would also be looking to change them for the correct profile while your there.

Maxxis are pretty good value for money, they need a few thousand miles off them to start to work well though. Good in the wet and good treadwear, like slicks on fields though.

didnt want to run diff profiles from front to rear as its only the fronts i am looking to change as they are the worn tyres and cant afford a full set. out of interest what differance does it make if they are 40 or 45 profile apart from making the ride harder and the spedo not quite right.?????

Nankangs were great on the front of my old Focus RS, gripped as well as expected in the rain and dry for budget tyres. Lasted a good while on a few track days too, so not the worst of budget tyres by a long shot

Had them on the ST200 estate and on and Audi A6. They were shocking on both and were changed within two days.

Would avoid them like the plague.

Had Falken ZE912 on a 120bhp laguna and they were fine, Now got Falken FK452 on our Z4 BMW (218bhp) and they are excellent, wouldnt go much cheaper for safety.

Fulda sport control if they are in budget. They are basically the old eagle f1 asymmetric tread pattern. They are made by Goodyear, grip well and wear very well

Why not just get some part worn well known brands?

I got 2x nearly new Goodyear efficentgrip tyres fitted for £80, new they were £105 each.

Stay away from Autogrip as well. Truly awful tyres.
