Fuck sake gearbox just started rattling what stronger gearboxes will drop straight in

IB5, seem to recall you need to ensure it's a front starter.

MTX75 if you don't mind a ball ache.

 

Depending on rattle it may just be a release bearing

 

Low rumbling intermittent gears sumtimes get em sumtimes can't the release bearing has been making noise for ages tho, suppose il see when it's out

 

Ive got a escort LSD box in mine which is pretty much the same power as yours. Sounds like the release bearing tbh. Jamie

 

I've also got a Series 1 RS Turbo Escort box with an LSD fitted, running over 200bhp and not had any problems with that (touch wood)...

well my mechanic says its not gearbox, says it could be tensioner or water pump... i keep saying to him then why does it only do it in gear and when driving>>> theres no sound what so ever in nuetral if it was one of them two wouldnt it be doing it all the time..

also he originally said it was the engine mount because it was knackered
so put a vibra technics one on and it made it worse because there is no play in the mount at all
