Default New member, brake advice please!?

Hi, I've got a mk2 1600 Focus and just recently had it MOT'd and it passed fine. Although I've noticed a squeeky/metalic rubbing noise is progressively getting worse.

It doesn't sound like a bearing as I've had that problem on previous cars and work vans.

It seems to be at a slow pull off or if crawling in traffic etc, but isnt a constant noise. Sometimes can hear it at higher speeds but usually once been driving for a few miles and getting upto temperature.

I tried removing the front wheels and grinding off the edges of the discs and banging off the crust around the edges of the discs and that seems to help for about 2 days and then it just started coming back.

Im thinking its best to just renew discs and pads now and see if it stops? If so which is a decent brand for a daily drive.

Sorry for a long post just wanted to be clear.

Thanks, James.
