Default What determines how much boost my engine can handle?

My 4x4 cossie turbo has arrived and my adapter to fit my S2 should be here in 2 days or so, so i would like to know what max boost i can put thru it? Turbo is mint no play done 60k, engine also done 60k.

I am curious as how much boost my engine can handle it is a case of getting it set up (fueling etc) so it can handle whatever boost the turbo can handle till it blows?

The tuning limit is the detonation limit which can ONLY be found by live mapping !!

The physical limit will be engine strength, turbo efficiency and injector size/fuel pressure.

mine spikes at 20 holds 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 10......

but that was with the old wanky pace!!

should be peaking at apporx 21 / 22 and holding 18 with the new much BIGGGGGGGGEEERRR intercooler!!

but i won't run more than 18psi...... (as i have nos)

It's all to do with cylinder pressures and the correct a/f ratio. Obviously with stock c/r, you will be limited to the amount of boost you can run unless you lower this .

I would take it to someone who can det check it for you and set it safely using the correct equipment to find out where the limit is (det-cans etc).

**read signature**

and its FACT that a VERY VERY VERY small % of NOS users blow their engines!! in fact, it can help cool the engine!!

the blown engines are usually down to either crap installations or just badly setup with too much NOS!!

GEEK!!!!!!!!

PMSL i reckon the ACT will be in tripple figures if your using a standard intercooler and lots of boost...
If your still on the standard cooler then judging by the rest of the spec this will be what limits you most.. IMO you wont want more than 13Psi

Nitrous doesnt blow up engines, just like boost doesnt.

Its STUPIDITY that blows engines.

If people are going to play with things they should learn enough about them first, or get the help of someone who does.

Keith, you can wire it up without the minimiser and then alter the wiring later.
