Default Mondeo TDDI

Hello to all, have noticed there are some clever people here so I hope someone can help me with a problem with my mondeo.
Car starts fine first turn of the key but is not firing on number 3 cylinder and the engine has a nasty shake at idle, the pots that are firing are giving excessive white smoke.

So far the tank has been removed and cleaned, new turbo, new fuel filter, replacement engine, injection pump that was tested before fitting, new injectors, crank sensor and new dmf but still no difference. Symptoms are the exact same as before any work was done at all. No check engine light flashing.

Any thoughts at all? All opinions welcome...

Christ you've spent more than it's worth getting all that replaced! You must love the car! Have you replaced with new or second hand parts. It's not inconceivable that you've replaced a faulty part with another faulty part.

Mostly second hand stuff but I took them from a car that I know ran well. Yeah I'm not ever going to make back the money that's been spent but it was a great car until lately.

Has anyone heard of any electronic gremlins that could cause this problem?

Hi, had a compression test done to rule out the valves and it seems ok. Tried another lift pump and a new fuel filter on it today and no change at all, still has a lumpy idle and tons of white smoke.

Has anyone heard of an ecu fault that could cause this?

No, never heard the ECU being to blame and I've heard about a lot of faults - but if you've tried everything else.... Can't believe you're being so persistant. Most would have scrapped it by now.

Ah I'm just attached to it for some reason plus would hate to let the fucker beat me lol. Reason I'm wondering about the ecu is because 2 different pump have behaved the exact same way when fitted to the car, same crappy spray pattern from the injectors even when the injectors were changed...

not entirely sure im a self taught DIY so I only go off experience lol

You've alot changed, even a new engine? Have you had it linked to an ECU fault reader?, checked engine and gearbox mounts?

suppose you'll laugh at me but have you changed the air filter?, checked for any air leaks? or checked the condition of the exhaust pipe? iremeber doing an exhaust on a 306 diesel as it was pretty much hanging off, made the engine feel shaky and powerless

do new injectors need to be coded to your car in order to work? not entirely sure about mondeos, i know my transit did.

you're correct they do need coding to work properly. Also check EGR valve for proper working as they fill up with carbon and get stuck
