Default Retro Ford sumps... who's fitted one?

I'm doing an Anglia Zetec conversion and I bought some stuff from Dave at RF. Fitted the sump this week and it all went well. Good bit of kit.

However I've had some advice from a very knowledgeable person who said I've dropped a bit of a bollock by fitting a paper gasket between the oil pickup pipe and the pump.

Engine is a new 2.0 litre series 3 blacktop. The original pickup pipe was plastic with a green o-ring. No gasket.

RF pickup pipe is metal, so therefore metal to metal as no gasket was supplied with the kit. So I made my own with proper gasket paper and used Hermatite blue sealant.

But now I've been told that the paper can break up and go soggy and cause loss of oil pressure when the pipe then becomes loose. Apparently there's a proper metal gasket that Ford supplies.

So.... if RF supply no gasket what have peeps done on here that fitted a RF sump kit? Have any people had similar issues? Have to say I was a little surprised there was no gasket supplied given the price of the kit. But it only took a couple of minutes to make my own. If I must remove sump and redo etc. then so be it. Just worried that the rubber gasket might not be reuseable then if I go that route.

Many production cars have used paper gaskets for years on pick-up pipes. i really can't see it causing a problem
