Default Turbo recommendations

Hey chaps the old T3 turbo on my saph 2wd has done best part of 160000 miles on std eng, and about 5000 on msd stage one chip and 15psi. has a fair bit of shaft play, was thinking i would get it reconed before it shits it self. But have spotted this on our kiwi ebay 'trademe' im not to sure on sizes and trim sizes etc but just thought id ask forum users if this may be any good for a replacement, any thoughts appreciated.

Hey Keith, cheers for your reply. Funny how I end up talking about this topic to someone in NZ!! Have looked at our kiwi rsoc page and it seems dead!
I be keen to inquire about your turbo, although it would need to be in good nick! Im guessing yours was also a 2wd car as i believe the 4wd ones were slightly uprated..

cheers Kevin

That turbo may require alterations in your map. The front end looks a lot larger than standard.

Technically if it's the same rear housing it shouldn't be much difference in power but compared to your original turbo, RPM for RPM the larger turbo will be pushing more air out.

If you fit it then I suggest having it checked to make sure that it's fueling sufficiently for the different turbo.

if money isnt a problem and you need a new turbo anyway, i would just up the spec of your engine to stage 3

t34 turbo
green or siemens blacks injectors
new chip
3 map bar sensor

job done; very easy to fit and it will transform the performance of your car - if you check the for sale section on here regular there is bound to be someone selling all the above 2nd hand if money is tight

have you got a decent intercooler & clutch in your car already?
