Long stay parking at Heathrow?
The mrs and I are flying out to Italy in August, and so far we have tried pretty much all forms of public transport to the airport, this year we really can't be bothered with it and are going to drive there and park.
Haven't done this before do wondering of anyone can recommend which service to use? What was your experience?
We are flying out from terminal 5.

Looking at the official heathrow site most places are only ten min away, which isn't too bad.
So time vs cost, it seems to be a reasonable option.
While free parking is a nice option, don't fancy leaving the car somewhere unattended for a whole week, and when you do park somewhere like that, how easy is it to get to the airport!
It's only 5 days.
Looks like its £50 for the long term T5 BAA car park with a 15min connection, or £70 for the short term with a 5min walk to the terminal.
Might just pay the extra £20 and be walking distance from the terminal.

I remember about 10 years ago some kids breaking into heathrow secure parking on the hayes by-pass and playing demolition derby with all the cars causing a million pounds+ worth of damage

Jim, you do make me laugh, £40-£50 one way for a cab from Croydon to Heathrow which is 20miles is £2 a mile!!
It's not getting there by cab that's the bad bit, it's the premium they charge for getting you back, last time they wanted to charge us £80!

I once stayed in a long term one where you parked your car yourself and take your keys with you, then get a shuttle bus to the airport. That was around 50/60quid for a week?
If not purple parking are good, but i always worry about giving them the keys to my motor!

honestly mate, spend 10 minutes calling around, worse case you waste 10 minutes... lol
I have been useing meet and greet parking for years and never had any trouble, they take 4 photo's of your car and check fuel and mileage and the car is their responsibility, return trip, land check through customs give them a call and the car is waiting for you, check for damage and get in and go home, i have a 1998 Range Rover so its not worh 3 grand, would i do the same with a twenty grand motor, yes i think i would.
