Anyone fitted bonnet raisers?
Im thinking of fitting some strictly for purpose (summer only)
As my RS generally never gets away from the cold (m on the temp gauge) as i have the bumper cut out, and a uprated stat, but have noticed if i drive like a prick down a few ringroads it creeps up a tiny bit. :cry
Now has anyone fitted them?, if so did they help much?
Oh and im ready to constantly be told my bonnets open

Many thanks Adam.

Fitted them to my erst for the same reasons mate and definately noticed a drop in temps, especially when stationary the heat seemed to dissipate quicker.
The bonnet open comments were a pain lol and the bonnet catch can be a bit unreliable but i ran bonnet pins!
Easy to take on and off and cheap to buy or make so give it a go mate

Bonnet raisers would help , I tried to fit to mine but bolts hit the wing so no go :-(
Get as much cold air in and as much hot air out ,

can you not remove the metal plate at the back of the engine bay so the heat blows up theu the scuttle pannel.. im sure a mate of mine has done this without too much hassle..
The area around the bottom of the windscreen and the scuttle experiences positive pressure when the vehicle is moving, that's why the air vents are there. Fitting bonnet raisers will help cool the engine bay when stationary but will not help when moving as a very small amount of air will go in at the back of the bonnet, disturbing the normal airflow under the bonnet. A bad idea all round and they look gash as well.
When i had them on my ERST it helped alot with the under bonnet temps.
Its about time someone made "reverse vented" bonnet vents for the turbocharged/vented RS cars (so it scoops cold air into the engine bay, opposed to letting the warm air out). I know it will cause drag, but it might help overall temps

When stationary fan set to hot, full blow. Job done.
Aim it at the screen or your feet.
Never had a problem with my old RST in 35k of silly driving and being sat in many ford show queue's.
