After jacking the car up to clean the wheels yesterday, I noticed the rear coilovers creaking today, what causes this ?

 

Friction between top hat/spring/adjustable platform collars/helpers if fitted.

 

They rubbin on inner edges of body? My ns rear was murder! Binned them for konis.

 

Have ye hammers in scotchland chop

HAHAHA the coilover issue started in England

I just whacked on the brand new konis I had already bought for my saff. I didn't want coilovers

 

Mine was caused by lack of use I think because as soon as I used it a bit more it cleared up. Although maybe the silicone I squirted all over them helped.

They do normally have the old issue of the spring rubbing on the inner arch on the rear end,

A big hammer sorts it out though.

 

Haha when I 'remodelled' mine for coilover fitting I started off hitting it so gently with a smallish hammer because it felt so horrible.
By the end I was calling it all sorts of names and clubbing it with the biggest b@stard hammer I could find
Does take a bit of effort!

IIRC the saff had a 6mm build tolerance, so some may need a mod, some may not, some may rub, some may not fit well at all.
