Some of you may have seen some of my previous prjects, well i thought it was time for a fresh project so in Dec i bought a rather rusty and old BMW 1602 with the aim of building a Big HP 2002 Turbo "rep"
I am building a 600+BHP M10 Turbo with the help of a tuner in sweeden but i badly wanted the car on the raod for summer so i am fitting a 19 16v M44 Turbo until the M10 Turbo is built.
The below is just a quick summary of how i am getting on.
This is the car as I bought in Dec.

The below is my inspiration and "roughly" what I am aiming for.

The car was in alot worse condition that i thought and every panel was rotten so would be replaced.
Sills

I have sourced a pretty much complete BMW 2002 Turbo that is wrotten but will give me all the Genuine Turbo bits i need to put onto the 1602 shell.
This pic shows 6" of the outer arch cut out, after this we then cut all the inner arch out that is shown in the pic.

Once the outer and inner arches were removed, we then started to fabricate our own inner arches so the car can run 10x16 wheels on the rear
50% finished article on the other side, pic is poor but there is some pretty nice custom work went into getting a good shape with the inner arch.

Front end had the same treatment but was much easier as it was just the wings that needed cut out (8" removed) and some small fab work to the inner wings.
Trial fit of Turbo front end.

.
Got the engine bay painted and engine fitted (M44 Turbo).
Fitting the engine and box which was a nightmare as everything has to go in a certain way to make it fit, loads of trial and error but we got it in (almost) and then realised the box had zero chance of fitting due to the tunnel being too small and there was feck all to mount the box too.
Engine and box back had to come back out and out came the BIG hammer, followed by lots of cutting and welding for new brackets etc.
Things like the turbo downpipe are a small nightmare to get in place due to a serious lack of space around the steering but it’s done and all bolted up.
Engine is now in and sitting spot on so mega chuffed, but still a long way to go.
Cage is also starting to take shape but still door bars to be welded in etc.

Shell primed

15/5/12
Starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel but still a fair bit too do before the car is ready for mapping etc.

Cheers guys.
Spent today making the intercooler fit, what an utter bastard of a job, had to reluctantly cut my new and fresh painted front panel but its in and sits pretty well, still a wee bit of trimming to do and then paint the front panel again.
