Can the oil pump on a 2wd saff be removed without removing the engine?

i would have thought so, but probably easier to take it out.

 

Yes it can jack car up disconnect starter take out disconnect steering rack from column undo eng mounts and crossmember drop it down undo sump bolts .dont forget to drain oil and you need a set of spline keys ,new sump gasket and oil pump gasket and o ring for the spray bar.neil
