use a very very thin smear of silicone on the head cover and half moons then you will have no leak

As above but I also used a cometic gasket and applied Loctite 534 Gasket positioner to both sides of the gasket and have had no leaks for about 7 yrs now.

Can the Cometic one not be used without sealer?

Yes it can and is also re-usable but I had a re occurring leak and just wanted to make sure, but by using the Loctite you won't be able to re-use it.

Yes mate you only use a small dab of sealer where the half moons meet the gasket
