Default Turbo rebuild?

Hi guys, just after a bit of info

I'm looking at buying a T35.55 off a mate.

I'm thinking it'll be best if i have it rebuilt and pimped up at the same time

So my question is, how much at im roughly looking at for a rebuild and having a roller bearing and other such mods done to it?

Also, who should I use?

And yes I know i should just ring each firm and ask, but as its bank holiday I cant and I want to know how you got on personally.

Cheers for the help in advance

Danny (I think?) at R.A Designs did my T4 for me...

http://www.turborebuild.co.uk/

Was über reasonable and it came back looking like a work of art! Performs perfectly as well.
He was half the price of most of the other places so was sceptical but I'm well happy

Be careful with CR, they told me price over the phone, I said yes ok that's just about doable, paid by card over the phone. Turns out, when I looked at my bank statement the next day, it was the price quoted, plus VAT!

I sent my t3 to c r turbos. With a covering letter explaining I have a brand new -31 actuator ready to fit.

I ended up paying in the region of £560, turbo came back with a brand new actuator fitted.
No details of the spec of the T3 supplied, so I presume I have a stage2.

When I rang them up I spoke to somebody who I explained about the covering note i sent with the turbo explaining that I already had a new one, I then asked have I paid for this actuator fitted to the turbo you've sent me. They said NO.

So if you use c r, they give you a free actuator

I don't think so Don't think I would use them again.

Turbo technics IMO Might be more expensive but at least your getting what your paying for and they are accountable if you have a problem.

I had my t4 rebuilt by cr turbos within 2/3 months the shaft nut came loose destroyed the comp wheel they blamed misfires and that I didn't have a recirc dump valve (even though the car runs perfectly and had a atmo valve) didn't want to talk about the fact they had just built it even told me it still had locktight on the thread (really ) and ended up I had to source another wheel and pay for it to be rebuilt again even though they had just put the turbo together.

Then there's the scrap/used turbos they "bought" off me "sorry mate they are completely scrap I'll bin them"

Used to be ok but I won't use them again.

wilky off here?? have spoke to him via pm and got qoutes, which were very good. he works to your budget for a spec you can afford. i aquirred a turbo for the meantime but il be giving wilky a bell when i up the spec in the near future. i thought cr turbos were one of the best in the buisness. nothing suprises's me these days.

for what its worth, wilky was suggested off a fair few lads on here al saying pretty much the same thing. he will build you a good turbo for a reasonable price.

imo it is not worth buying a used turbo that needs a rebuild it normally end up costing as much if not more than a new one exchange
The turbo you are looking at is £695 all in with a 2 year TT warranty
