spax adjustables, they are ok except the rear springs are made for a car with full interior so my stripped out car sits high at the back and is too hard at the back.
im struggling to find softer springs

Leda Coilovers on the front, Koni on rear, with unknown Springs bit low all round, but one day probably go for Coilovers on the rears, to match the fronts, or Koni/Ahmeds all round....

AVO Coilovers on the front
Koni's -30mm on the rear

I'd like to go for split coilovers on the rear eventually, with adjustable spring seat

avo coilovers front, rally design springs rear.

300 lbs rears with a -1" ride height. Sits okay, but for track I would go lower... I previously had -50mm avo rear springs on, car was very stiff and a little too low for the road IMO.

This is with -50mm rear springs, front lowered to match.

I like how it looked but my downpipe had a love affair with speed bumps, so it was raised by 25mm

Mine is on Koni`s all round and lowered 40mm. It is a bit harsh but it fully polly bushed too so that might not be helping.

Koni Adjustables all round, -35mm AVO springs and fully polybushed. That's what I have on my '3i cab and I was happy with the ride, slightly stiff but not too harsh.

Mines the same, stiff but not too harsh unless you find a mega pot-hole...
Rob - your car sits nice in that photo, i have an issue with my downpipe and u-bend as mine is so i bet yours was a ball ache!

Spax adjustables -25mm, very firm ride, exhaust scrapes on almost all speed bumps with only me in the car.

Leda Coilovers all round, but like Gus, need to play with spring rates. Got 270lbs fronts and 160lbs rears but havent driven it hard enough yet to play with these. Backs are far, far too soft, though.

Where did you get the springs from for your Leda's as the bloke i brought mine off only had extreme hard springs for his race car so doubt they would be any good for the road.

Have you driven much at all on the Leda's ?

Im excited about picking mine up never mind driving with them

They are Falkner springs from Merlin Motorsport. They are only about Ł12-25 each depending on the lengths and poundage. I think for a stripped out track car 300-400 lb front and 400-500 lb rears is a good starting point looking at threads on here.
I haven't driven it much with the ledas, but combined with the RS1600i front ARB and MEF TCA's it made a huge difference to how the car handled when it had GMax shocks and springs and standard gear.

all i know is for the road the last thing you wanna do is strip out the rear end and then uprate the suspension, causes all sorts of problems as im finding out.
the funny thing is when my car was totally standard 1.3 bonus i fitted some 15" wheels to it and it handled like it was on rails, soon as i started to uprate things i lost the good handling but then it may be better on a track

Yeah that sounds good Muz

Im building myself a MEF style adjustable rear end and hopefully fitting some adjustable TCA's too. Ill ask the bloke what sort of lengths to run as again im unsure ?

Do you mind me asking if the 16i anti roll bar was much of a pain to change from standard ? I know my car used to be fitted with one when the previous owner had it and it has two extra captive nuts on the chasiss to bolt it into.

Ill look on Merlin Motorsport anyway.

Cheers pal

Shitty gmax suspension kit and fully polybushed, have always run koni's or bilstein's and they are far superior to gmax lol and have just bought a set of koni's to sort the handling out as its poo on the gmax!!!!

A friend of mine has "G-Mucks" fitted to his and it handles like a barge...
Standard shocks and a set of cheapo lowering springs would b better

16vZetec - Don't make your car too hard for road use, esp when the roads are bumpy and wet as it won't help with handling... Tracks are usually alot smoother than roads so that can make a big diff!

If you've already got the chassis mods done then you only need a Mk3/5 gearbox housing. The ARB itself will make a huge difference, especially with the MEF TCA's.

I'm also making my own adjustable rear end. McGill Motorsport do everything you need IIRC.

I think my springs are 8 inch long, I would advise getting a set of helper springs also.

I didnt mean it as an insult milesy, i hope you didnt take it that way... I was purely commenting on my experience with the g-max!
The Koni's will make a massive difference m8... Let us know what you think once they are fitted!

Yeah i ment to ask you that also, saw a s2 at central day that had Leda's and his were fitted with little helper springs. Are they 2.25 or 2.5 diameter ?

Ill have a look for that stuff, can get all the rod ends for free which is a massive help as there is around 12 just for the rear setup.

Deffo want adjustable TCS's when Leda's get fitted too Im also going to try and make some rose jointed track rod ends too and maybe start making the kit to sell

Have you any pics of your Leda's what colour are they ?

Big thanks for the help Muz

I think theres some good pics of Muz's posh suspension in his resto thread? well worth a read! despite the hour or two it will take

PS, be prepared for some serious garage jealousy! I had to read his thread then go back to my tiny lock up wishing it was a massive barn.

i run avo coilovers front on 180lb and mef rear coilovers with 400lb and is a little soft at front so got some 225lb ones to go on front and not sure on ride height as do it to suit as needs be but the set up robdohc runs is what i used to have and is one of the best to have koni's are far to harsh for road use but unless you've tested several kits it's hard to compare them too, i've tried from 200lb rears to the 400's on it now and is nearly how i want it and this is a fully interiored road car

I haven't got any pics as I'm on my phone but they are Leda Blue which I quite like. The fronts are 2.5 and the rears are 2.25z I believe all RS Turbo Ledas are the same because of the tight rear turret space.

Rob, it's a good workshop but the more space you have the harder it is to keep clean. It's a shit hole at the moment.
On the car front though I finished the seam welding yesterday and have a nice little addition arriving any day...

Yeah mine are blue aswell Muz. I'll check your resto picks when I get chance. Can't wait to get some springs and fit these coilovers.

I'm sure the bloke said the rear springs he used onntrack were 600lb lol so deffo need others.

Also what else would be needed for 16i anti roll bar as he also has one of these he will sell me. Got to make the trip to southend worthwhile
