Finding out what category write off a car is???
Hello all quick question a friends mum drove over a curb in her 206cc bending the subframe ectect was going to pay me to fix it but then decided to go through the insurence and they wrote it off
Ive now bought the car back off the insurence but how do i fined out what catorgy thay have placed it in :/

If you do a search online, there is a number that you can call to see if a car needs a VIC carrying out, i think the number may actually be on the form you send off to book a VIC, if it needs a check its cat C, if not then cat D. if you use a txt check it will cost you likewise if you apply for a logbook which i presume you have access to if you got the car off a friend

Type the reg into the Dvla vehicle enquiry website and it will show you if there's a VIC marker set against it,if so then it's cat c.
Best way to check is hpi etc but a touch pointless if it's already had a VIC marker set against it.

Or google vehicle enquiry.
Like I said above,if you get the logbook back that's no guarantee it's not cat c,it just doesn't require a VIC check but to all intents and purposes your logbook stays clean and that's a good thing.
