Default Power steering mk4/5 fiesta

Is there anything electrical connected to the power steering on a mk4/5 fiesta 1.8td
I thought the power steering was all hydraulic and the pump ran off the crank is this the case?

It's a hydraulic pump that runs from the aux belt. I believe there may be a pressure switch on the pump.....but with that disconnected it will run perfectly.

My steering has gone stiff in the fiesta , local garage took a look and traced it back to a relay and also said it could be the pump
