If it was me I'd get a rotten rs turbo and take all bits off that and put on the cab (I wish I had done that with my van) work out cheaper doin that then buying all bits individually.

the RS turbo's have a high pressure electric fuel pump in the tank, the carb'ed engines have a low pressure mechanical one bolted to the end of the head!

its not in the tank on a rs turbo, its mounted externally between the rear wishbones.

not sure but an external high pressure fuel pump should run things fine, the question is will you go MFI as in the fiesta bosch system as in the escort? either way a good high pressure fuel pump is required, I suspect that you can keep the tank though, you could billet mount a bosch 044 fuel pump (a bit overkill) between the wishbones and that will give you all you ever need!
