The rocker cover panels are the same on both sides.

The part number is the same as that for the XR4Ti, bit different for the XR4i. I suspect that could be to do with the colour, though, rather than any difference in the shape of the panel.

I think I have a spare 4i one somewhere in the shed if you can't find one locally and want to take a chance.

What bit?

The part number is the same for both sides of the 3dr Cosworth.
That part number is also used for the US/Canada XR4TI in grey.
There is another part number for the US/Canada panel in brown.
The UK/Europe panel for the XR4i is only listed in grey (even though I know they did light and dark grey) and the number is different again.

As far as I can tell, the parts are all physically the same and it is the colour that varies, but I don't know that for sure.

I've told him they are the same on both sides.

I've given him the info on other parts that MIGHT be interchangeable and easier to find, just in case he's trying to find one. If he already has them and just needs to know which goes where I've wasted my time and his and yours!

I don't know about the rivets so I haven't mentioned them.

Iain is correct, they are physically the same as those from an xr4 and are interchangable from side to side. The reason for the part no differerence is that the 4i ones are unpainted and have a texture to them, a bit of high build primer and paint and they would be identical to 3dr cosworth ones.
