hi i use my orion as an everyday car and recently found out its using water i checked last week expansion tank was empty. filled kettle and put it in and it dissapeared straight away second attempt it kept the water in tank same thing happened today its got no oil in water no gunk in oil filler cap hasnt lost power dosnt overheat an fan kicks in correctly what could this be?

Have you checked for leaks when it's running. My Orion did the same. Sometimes used water and went through a period when it didn't. Was the water pump on mine. Happened the same on my diesel and petrol one

thanks for reply the only leak ive noticed is gearbox oil

You might not see the leak until the system is pressurised, ie HOT.

A friend of mine had the same issue with his Ford KA.

It turned out to be the inlet manifold gasket had gone, the water only sprayed out when driving the car and it was up to temperature.
