Default Weird tyre wear???

Poking about under my daily hack on Saturday I noticed some very odd tyre wear. I sent the car into a garage earlier this year as I was getting a hollow sounding clunk from the n/s/f and poor steering feel. The car was returned to me with them saying they couldn't find anything wrong and it was my imagination. Now the hollow clonking has got much worse and I've found this tyre wear (inside edge to the right of the pic).

I've often seen accelerated wear on the inside edge but this is a firm ridge of less wear than the rest of the tyre. Both sides are the same?

Pretty certain the clonk, poor steering feel and this wear are all connected but any suggestions?

Car is my '96 Audi A4 T-Sport, front suspension was polybushed last year

I take it you have had your tracking checked. Is the other tyre the same.

I can't see the problem from the picture (it just doesn't show up well). It appears to have high spots every now and then?

Isnt it tyre inflation issues ?

Might be under inflation thats worn both outer edges , over inflation wears the middle out faster . I i thought if it was tracking only one edge goes quicker than the other side ?

I had a clunking that wasn't picked up on MOT for 2 years etc, turned out to be the steering arm joint, where it screws into the steering rack

Problem isn't accelerated wear it's a pronounced lip on the inside of the tyres that's less worn than the rest of the tread.

Tyres are the same make and model I've been using for years, 3 or 4 sets now and not had this before.

Tyre pressures are as normal, checked weekly

What make are the tyres. Goodyear eagle f1 by any chance? As they wear in strange places!
