Default Mondeo 300mm brakes

Hi all. Searched the forum but can't seem to find a solid answer to my question. Does the mondeo 300mm brake conversion fit under standard s2 wheels with some grinding? Has anyone tried? Some people say yes and some no but want a clear answer for defo. If not i'll have to settle for cossie brakes.

Cheers. Alex

They fit under some 15s with some grinding... Maybe under turbo wheels with "alot" of grinding.
Not very helpful i know - but as you say cossie brakes do and would be an ideal upgrade!

cheers. Alex.

No straight answer then lol. I'm wanting to know if they fit under sharktooths. Think the only way is to try it. Not simple to do. If someone has a mk4 hub I have mk3 mondeo calipers here to try

I'm an engineer so can machine off metal to suit but if it's going to be too weak I won't do it

Also the escort turbo in that pic is running st170 calipers, i run mondeo calipers (mk3 st220, but all mk3s are the same)
They fit under sharktooths with minimal grinding... Seen this done!

Ah that's good I've seen it done now lol I think I'm going to go and buy the mk3 callipers and get grinding lol. There's no difference between the st170 and mk3 callipers is there? Except mk3 ones have slightly bigger pistons?

Thanks. Alex

There are two different calipers for the 300 mm disc's one was on the early st220 petrol models and st170 and then the STD mk3 type which I found worked better at speed! I used mk3 disc's before as offset is better suited to escorts but this requires drilling 3 holes in the disc to match the escort stud pattern

Not into drilling extra holes, I just used the st170 discs, job done!

I think they may but they will require more grinding than the S2 wheels would. My Cosworth brakes fit under S1 wheels and they are a tight fit:
